Match Your Jig to Your Depth

One gram of jig holds roughly one foot of depth. Too light and it drifts off the mark in the current. Too heavy and it kills your arms by midnight. Drag the depth and watch which Torpedo holds the line.

The Design

Why It Drops Straight

Lead doesn't scope out because it's lead. It scopes out because of its shape. Two jigs can weigh exactly the same and still finish the drop in completely different places — same water, same current, different zone. The Torpedo is built narrow, for the drop. Same density. Different shape.

  • Small jig body. A narrow profile with a flat back edge, built to get down and stay on the mark.

Why I Built This

The Squid Shape, Engineered to Drop Straight

With tungsten prices climbing, I'd rather build something better than keep raising my prices. And the tuna down deep are keying on squid, not baitfish, so I didn't just shrink a tungsten jig. I started over: squid shape, squid size, UV squid glow.

Lead has always had one flaw. It scopes out, and the moment it drifts off the mark the jig stops working. So I stopped blaming the metal and redesigned the shape. The result is a lead jig built to reach the strike zone and hold it.
