Your tackle bag smells like last August.

Soft bags soak up squid juice, tuna blood, and salt, grow mold, and die in a season. The Hao2Fish 30QT Tackle Box doesn't. Scroll to see every part of it.

soft bags fail in three ways
THE SOFT BAG PROBLEM

It worked on the dock. It died on the boat.

ODOR / MOLD
01

It stinks and molds

Fabric and foam soak up squid juice, tuna blood, and salt spray on day one. The padding never fully dries. Two weeks after the trip, your garage smells like a bait tank and the seams are growing mold. You can't hose out a sponge.

CAPACITY
02

It can't hold the loadout

Surface irons, 8.8 oz (250g) flat-falls, knife jigs, 40lb and 60lb fluoro filler spools, hook boxes, sinkers. A 3-day San Diego trip is big gear in volume. Soft bags collapse, crush trays, and force you to leave half your arsenal in the truck.

DURABILITY
03

It dies in a season

Zippers seize with salt corrosion. Stitching blows out under the weight of lead and tungsten. Soaked fabric stretches and never recovers. You buy a new bag every season and call it normal. It isn't.

THE FIX

A hard box that fishes San Diego.

30 quarts (28 liters). Rigid shell. Rinse it on the dock, leave it open overnight, and it's bone-dry by morning. Nothing porous, nothing for mold to live in. Big enough for a full long-range loadout, arranged however your own arsenal calls for, tough enough to ride a packed charter boat deck.

ROOM FOR YOUR OWN LOADOUT.

NOT A RENDER

Pack it your way.

Renders can only tell you what the box is shaped like. This is what it actually does, and this is just how I pack it, not the only way: I loaded my own tray for a 3-day trip with what's in my arsenal, closed and latched it, then hosed the mess off on the dock, all on camera, no cuts. Swap in your own spools, boxes, and jigs and arrange the tray however your trip calls for.

THE FAILURE POINTS

The three parts that fail first.

Corrosion-resistant latches

Salt spray seizes cheap hardware in one season. These latches are built to take saltwater exposure, trip after trip. Snap shut, stay shut, open clean with wet hands at 2am.

Sit-and-stand rated lid

On a packed charter boat there's never a seat. The lid is rated to hold your full weight, so your tackle box is now your spot on the rail between bites.

Water resistant shell

Deck spray, rain squalls, deckhand washdowns. The rigid shell shrugs them off and rinses out in 30 seconds. Hose it, drain it, leave it open, done.

STRAIGHT TALK

This is a water resistant deck box, not a dive housing. There's no rubber lid liner, and that's deliberate. A box that drains and dries beats a box that traps a cup of salt water inside for three days. Don't throw it overboard.

NOT A RENDER

That's me, on the box, mid-trip.

On a packed charter boat there is never a seat. I sat on this box between stops all trip and the lid didn't flex.

HANDS FREE AT THE RAIL

Your rods ride the box.

Clip-on rod holders mount straight to the side rail. Park a rigged rod upright while you re-tie, swap jigs, or claim your spot in the rotation. No leaning rods on the rail, no stepping on gear. Two come standard with every box, included free — and the first 50 reservations get four.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED STRAIGHT

Before you reserve

How does the $25 deposit work?+

You reserve your box today with a fully-refundable $25 deposit, that's all you pay up front, and it locks in the $159 first-run price (it rises to $199.99 at launch). The moment I hit 50 reservations, I place the production order and charge the remaining $134 balance. Your deposit isn't an extra fee. It's the first $25 of your $159.

What if you don't hit 50 reservations?+

Reservations close September 30, 2026. If I haven't hit 50 by then, I don't build the run, and every deposit is refunded in full by October 7, automatically. You don't have to ask. This is a custom production run, so I only place the manufacturing order once enough anglers are committed. Your $25 is never at risk.

When does it ship?+

I place the production order the day I hit 50 reservations, and email you the confirmed ship window right then. Current estimate is December 2026. Reservation-holders get updates at every production milestone, and if the date moves, you hear it from me first.

What if I change my mind?+

Full refund any time before your box ships, deposit or balance, all of it. Email me, money comes back, done. No restocking games on a box that hasn't shipped.

Will it fit on a charter boat?+

External dimensions are 18.5" × 12.6" × 13" (about 47 × 32 × 33 cm). That's sized for the tackle area and below the rail on standard San Diego sportfishing boats. And because the lid is sit-and-stand rated, it earns its deck space twice: storage and a seat.

Tell me about the rod holders+

The box ships with 2 clip-on rod holders, included free, and the first 50 reservations get 4 — double the standard set, no separate purchase needed. Your rigged rods travel on your own gear instead of the boat's rack. When the captain calls the drop, you're not fighting the crowd for a rail spot or waiting your turn. You grab a rod and get your jig down first. Between sessions there's also room inside to stash your reels so nothing rolls loose on a pitching deck.

What actually fits inside?+

30 quarts (28L) of usable hard-shell volume: room for full-size surface irons laid flat, 8.8 oz (250g) flat-falls and knife jigs, multiple fluoro filler spools (40/60/80lb), hook boxes, crimp kits, a sinker stash, reels between sessions, and the small stuff (glow sticks, leader wallet, pliers), with rod holders included free on the outside (2 standard, 4 for the first 50 reservations). It's not a fixed kit. Pack whatever's actually in your arsenal and arrange the tray your way.

Are the pictures real?+

The stills are the manufacturer's product renders with my branding on them, the same box I'm producing, shown honestly, and the exploded animation is built from those renders. The real ones are called out as such: the sit-test clip, the on-deck rod-holder clip, and the dock photos with the tuna. Those are all my own box, my own trips. There's also full video of it on deck on the Constitution: watch it on YouTube. Real photos of production samples go up the moment samples land, before the first run ships.

Is it fully watertight?+

No. It's water resistant, and that's deliberate. The shell shrugs off spray, rain, and washdowns, but there's no rubber lid liner. A box that drains and dries overnight beats one that traps a cup of salt water inside for three days. That trapped water is exactly how soft bags end up smelling like last August.

Who is Hao2Fish?+

I'm Hao. Hao2Fish is my small business and YouTube channel, based in San Francisco, built on one thing: making tuna fishing accessible to more people. I design and fish my own gear, tungsten and lead jigs I run on the same boats you ride. The 30QT Tackle Box is the box I wanted on deck and couldn't buy.
