Most deep jigs imitate a baitfish. The Torpedo imitates a squid, the bait bluefin feed on at depth: a 6-inch (15.3 cm) body with a torpedo nose, matched to the real thing they key on in the dark.

Ordinary lead scopes out. Your line takes an angle, the jig drifts, and it's fishing nothing. The Torpedo is shaped to slice through the water column nose-first, small profile, so it drops straight into the bite zone instead of sliding off sideways. A shape solution to a depth problem: the drop stays true because of how it's built, not what it weighs.

The weight rule is simple: about a gram per foot. This is the 400, the one you reach for from 200 feet on down, or any time current and wind won't let a lighter jig hold bottom. Common Questions

300g or 400g, which one do I need?
Rule of thumb is about a gram per foot. The 400g covers 200-400 ft and heavy current; when the bite sits up shallow and calm from 150ft-300ft, the 300g takes over. Honestly, on most trips the answer is both, which is why I put them together in the Torpedo Duo at $84.99, shipped free.

Why lead instead of tungsten if tungsten is denser?
Cost. Tungsten prices spiked in 2026 and I didn't want to pass that on to you. I designed the Torpedo to mimic what my tungsten jigs did: small profile, fast straight drop. The torpedo shape gets that out of lead, so it stays vertical without needing tungsten's density.

How is this different from the Moon Drop or Tungsten Tiger?
Different bait story and different price point. Torpedo imitates squid through shape, not density. It's the accessible option, not a replacement for the tungsten line.
